Why is it important?

35 kilometers from the city of Santa Marta, the evidence of the Tayrona indigenous culture is preserved, surrounded by a nature sanctuary that allows you to enjoy a large number of activities. The ‘Pueblito’ ruins, located in the Tayrona National Natural Park, are made up of the urban fabric of the Tayrona culture that inhabited this portion of the Colombian Caribbean Coast. Walking its paths and terraces is equivalent to traveling back in time and knowing the social, economic, political and religious systems of our ancestors.

How to get there.

  In Santa Marta you must take transportation to one of the two entrances to the Park: El Zaíno is the main entrance and is located 32 km from Santa Marta, along the Carib bean trunk road in the direction of Riohacha. Estimated time in vehicle is 45 minutes. Through Zaíno you can reach Cañaveral, Arrecifes, Cabo de San Juan de Guía and Pueblito. Palangana is at kilometer 5 along the Caribbean trunk road towards Riohacha where you can reach Neguanje, Gayraca and Playa del Muerto “crystal beach”. In this area the visitor can only spend the day and has no accommodation to stay. The entrance to the small town is through the Calazo path at kilometer 20 of the trunk of the Caribbean in the direction of Riohacha.

Pueblito, Tayrona.

Pueblito is one of the most representative sites of the Tayrona culture. This place of the Tayrona National Natural Park in Santa Marta  has stepped terraces covered on the outside by retaining walls; It also has ring-shaped stone constructions, internal paths of large carved slabs, stairs and bridges built in stone with different types of design and degree of elaboration.   Pueblito, Tayrona is the perfect base to explore Tayrona Park. This magical place makes a special experience of culture and nature. During the tour you will be on trails used by the Tayrona indigenous tribes more than 500 years ago, where very interesting archaeological ruins are still preserved. You will cross through gigantic stones, terraces and incredibly constructed canals.
